Dog ate screws. What symptoms to watch for? Will they pass safely?

Also what are the signs and symptoms of dog ate screws? Do screw also pass from potty ?

Vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, lethargy or abdominal pain. The screws should pass eventually but the possibility of internal damage or toxicity from the metal is possible. Feed a bulky diet for the next few days and monitor for their passing. Consider a visit to your vet for an exam and abdominal xrays to locate them.

Many of these objects wil pass on their own but occasionally they can get stuck in the digestive tract. We normally recommend feeding a bulky meal such as a slice of wheat bread torn into chunks in the hopes of creating a cushion effect around the pointy portion of the object. Monitor closely for vomiting, Decreased appetite,abdominal pain and lethargy. If these occur seek veterinary care immediately. The screw may take several days to pass so continue checking stools until you see it!

I would take her to your vet or local emergency clinic and have them take some X-rays to see if they are truly in her. If so, they will likely recommend surgical removal. If that isn’t an option financially, the they may recommend a prescription high fiber canned diet to see if they will pass. The X-rays are important though because depending on the side of the screws compared to the size of the intestines will depend on whether or not they’re will even be a chance for them to pass without surgery. If the screw is very small and your dog is pretty big (which I assume he is since he's a German Shepherd) it probably will not be a problem. Keep an eye on Bruno for any vomiting or diarrhea. If you notice these symptoms it would be wise to take him to a vet to have an x-ray performed and make sure the gut is ok. If he's acting normal and eating like normal just keep an eye on his poops to see if he passes the screw.

It will likely pass. The symptoms of an issue to look out for including vomiting/especially within an hour of eating, straining to defecate, not popping. If you are willing to sift through each bowel movement until you find the small stone, that will provide additional peace of mind. Otherwise screening abdominal x-rays at your vet can determine whether the stone is stuck somewhere and are recommended especially if vomiting/in appearance or straining to defecate are noted. My dog ate craft scraps and threw up. What should I watch for?

Hopefully Blue has vomited up all the material that he ingested. Unfortunately at this stage if there is anymore it has likely already passed into the gut. If so it may pass through without problem especially if the scraps are small. Over the next few days you need to be really vigilant, if it gets stuck in the gut signs you will be looking for are depression, pain, vomit and diarrhoea, not wanting to eat. Go to the vet right away if you suspect any of these.
