My dog ate a small rubber door stop. Will it pass naturally or vet?

Oh dear! Since I see that Bruno is a very small dog, I would be concerned that the rubber may become stuck in his stomach or intestines and cause an obstruction. If this just happened, it would be best to take Bruno to the vet right away so that they can induce vomiting - if he throws up the rubber, you shouldn't need to worry. If this isn't possible, then you will need to monitor him closely for the next few days. He may vomit up the rubber on his own, or it may pass through in his stool without any problems. Signs of an obstruction would include repeated episodes of vomiting, not wanting to eat, acting lethargic, and not having bowel movements. If you see any of these symptoms, you will need to take him to the vet right away, as he may need emergency surgery to remove the blockage.

The only thing you should do right now is to monitor her for any signs of an obstruction which includes: excessive vomiting (especially water), decreased appetite, lethargy and little to no stool production. This sounds like something that should pass through with no problems, but just keep an eye on here tonight and definitely get her seen by a vet tomorrow if she develops any concerning symptoms. You can also try feeding her a piece of bread 1-2 times a day to help bind up the rubber and help facilitate its passage through her GI tract. No, I do not recommend inducing vomiting. The pieces could get stuck or cause trauma to Zoe's esophagus. This may pass without problem, so keep an eye on her for now, and give her one piece of bread with each meal. No more coconut oil. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, blood in her feces, anorexia, or lethargy, have her seen by a vet right away. Best of luck.

If she chewed it to bits, it should pass without any problems. If she swallowed it whole, there is a slim chance it could cause a gastric or intestinal obstruction. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or straining to defecate. See your veterinarian if necessary. You can mix in some cooked brown rice or add a couple tablespoons of plain, canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling) to the meals to help cushion it and push it through.

If Rigby ate the gem within the last 2-3 hours, I recommend trying to induce vomiting by giving 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide by mouth. You can use a turkey baster to give it orally. If this doesn't make Rigby vomit within 15 minutes, you can repeat this once. If this doesn't work, you can bring Rigby to a veterinarian to have them induce vomiting. Otherwise, you can monitor Rigby for the development of any GI signs such as vomiting or decreased appetite. I would be worried about the possibility of the gem/toy causing a blockage of the intestines. This is a surgical emergency. I recommend also monitoring Rigby's stools for passage of the toy.
