My dog ate a sub sandwich with onions and guac. Will he be okay?

Oh dear! The good news is, I would not expect this to cause any serious problems for your dog - the only thing that might possibly be on a burrito that could be toxic to a dog is onions, and it would normally take a larger amount of these to cause any serious problems. Beef, cheese, tortillas, etc. are not toxic and should not be a major problem in most cases :) It's very possible that your pup could have a mild upset stomach from this, especially if he isn't used to eating "human food." Rarely, eating something like this could possibly cause a more serious GI issue called pancreatitis - symptoms of this problem would include repeated episodes of vomiting, bloody diarrhea, not eating, and acting lethargic. If any of these signs develop, it would be best to take your dog to the vet for treatment. Otherwise, it should be okay to monitor him at home for the next day or two to make sure that you don't see any problems.

Dixie will probably be just fine. It takes quite a bit of onion and garlic to cause clinical signs of toxicity - for a 40 lb dog the toxic dose would be 20 grams of onion or 5 grams of garlic. Both onion and garlic cause destruction of red blood cells leading to anemia. Onion and garlic powder can be more concentrated than the raw vegetables and therefore more likely to cause a problem, but I doubt there would be enough of either in a tuna sandwich. We also tend to see more problems when small amounts are given frequently rather than a single one time exposure.

Sadie would have to eat more than a half of a large onion (or a whole normal size onion) to get into any trouble. She may show mild signs of stomach upset, like a bout of vomit or loose stools but there should not be any more concerning symptoms.

A few pieces of onion ingested by a dog of Mochi's size will likely cause nothing worse than some minor stomach upset, if anything at all. She would need to eat 2 or 3 med/large onions in order to be at risk of serious toxicity. If she develops vomiting or diarrhea but continues to behave normally, you can fast her for 24 hours then feed a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to her regular diet afterwards.

With this small amount of burger and onion mixed in, it shouldn't be a problem, especially after just 1 dose. However, it is best to monitor him for the next 24-48 hrs for any signs of vomiting, diarrhea, or decreased appetite. However, he will likely be just fine. I'm sorry to hear that Chief got into trouble today! The amount of garlic you are describing should not cause toxicity for a dog as big as Chief. Just keep an eye on him for any tummy upset (vomiting, diarrhea, off his food) or lethargy, and if these occur have him seen by your veterinarian.
