My dog ate a Mexican alligator lizard. Is it safe or dangerous?

Hello! Eating the shed skin of a snake should not be a problem for Rocky. It could be that he could get some GI upset from it, but if he only ate a bit of it, there may not be any GI upset seen. I don't think you need to go to a vet for him for this ingestion. Luckily in Great Britain, you only have one venomous snake, the adder, and he would have had to be bitten by this snake in order for there to be a serious problem that requires an immediate vet visit. That wasn't good of Hope to eat the tortilla! The good news is that the fruit of the lime is edible to dogs, only the skin and the plant material causes problems. More than likely, these tortillas have lime fruit as part of them, and that should not cause a problem. You can look out for signs of toxicity from the skin and plant material just to be safe, which includes vomiting, diarrhea, and depression. Should you see any of those signs, I would take Hope into the vet to be safe; otherwise, she should be fine :-)

I would not be concerned with your dog eating a leech. They don't have any toxic qualities and the leech if it was not already dead when swallowed will die in the acidic environement of the stomach.

Snails are generally non toxic to dogs, but the problems come with with the parasites they carry, and if they have been poisoned with snail poisoning. Snails carry lungworms, which will be passed to dogs when the snail is eaten by the dog. Not all snails carry lungworms, so you can monitor Daisy for signs of coughing and difficulty breathing. If she develops those problems, you should take her into your vet. The snail's shell could also potentially cause GI obstruction or GI upset, but it's not too likely. Monitor her for vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, or extremely lethargy, and if you see any of those signs, take her into your vet. Finally, as I mentioned, there can be problems if the snail was poisoned with snail poisoning. Signs of toxicity from snail poisoning include tremors and twitching, which are exacerbated by noise. If you see any of those signs, you need to take Daisy into your vet right away. If she is actually normally, eating and drinking normally, and having normal bathroom habits, I would not worry about her.
