My dog ate an isopropyl alcohol prep pad. What symptoms to watch for?

This will likely pass on its own. I do not think you have to worry. Just in case it does not pass per vias naturalis, and causes an obstruction (unlikely), watch for diarrhea and retching and lethargy. If that occurs Scout needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. But as I said, it is unlikely. The little bit of alcohol on the pad might make him tired. And the pad, being paper tissue, should somewhat dissolve and pass.

A small one shouldn't cause Bella any problems. It would be concerned if it was a large one, as large amounts of the alcohol would cause immediate problems, usually within 30 minutes. You don't need to do anything but make sure she doesn't eat any more! I hope this helps!

If he ingested a toxic amount, signs may include vomiting with or without blood, retching, abdominal pain, central nervous system (CNS) depression, decreased respiratory rate, and coma. He may appear drunk and the breath often has an alcohol odor. If you see any of these signs or are concerned about Rocket, he should be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible for treatment. This can typically be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Large amounts of toilet paper may cause a gastric or intestinal obstruction. Monitor for lethargy, persistent vomiting or diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

That was naughty of Luna to get ahold of this wipe. Luckily the wipe is bleach free, which is great! Likely she didn't eat it, but keep an eye on her for excessive drooling, mouth pain, lethargy, and decreased appetite. If you see any of those signs, have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Hello, thank you for your question. Labs can be so mischievous! Based on your description I think that your dogs should be ok. If dogs ingest a large amount of alcohol they can experience side effects. However I believe that the small amount should not cause sever symptoms. I would recommend monitoring your dogs overnight, if at anytime they became unsteady on their feet or weak I would have them seen by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!

If you did not see them drink the alcohol, it is very likely that the small amount that was covering the bottom of the cup just evaporated. Alcohol tends to evaporate quite quickly at room temperature. Alcohols, when ingested, can cause metabolic disturbances and neurological side effects.
