My dog ate ibuprofen and has loose stool. Is a vet visit necessary?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Female | spayed | 6 months and 18 days old | 61 lbs

My 6 month old lab who weighs 61 pounds ate 250 mg of ibuprofen about 14 hours ago. I noticed that she just had some loose stool. Do I need to take her to the vet or can I just keep and eye on her and treat her at home. She’s still eating and drinking and playing and running around like she normally does.

Hi. Poor luna. Luckily, It does not appear she got a toxic dose. This will most likey not cause any cinical signs. If she ate more then that, I would definitely take her in to the ER. If you notice any other signs, please call or go to the ER
