My 3-month-old Pomeranian ate grapes. Are grapes toxic to dogs?

Every dog is different and 1 grape could be toxic to one dog and it could take 100 grapes to cause toxicity to the next. I recommend calling your vet for options to decontaminate Poppy. I don't think a big guy like Toby will suffer and bad effects from eating one grape. The skin on the grape contains the toxins, but it would take many more than the one grape to cause him a problem. The same situation for raisins....not a good snack. I feel sure that Toby will be fine!!

Hello. This is always a bit of a quandary because there are no hard rules for raisin & grape consumption in small amounts. A few raisins in a 60-pound dog is probably or no consequence, but some dogs can react to just one. Personally, I would just watch Buddy. Most problems will develop in 6-24 hours, & consist of vomiting &/or diarrhea. If any of these should develop, get to your vet immediately. No vomiting or diarrhea by 48 hours, then he will be fine. Grapefruit skin and seeds are not toxic to dogs in small quantities. Only concentrated seed extracts have the potential to be mildly toxic. Grapes, raisons and grape seeds are toxic to dogs though, so definitely be careful when having those around your dog. I hope that helps and all is well with your Pug.

Not to worry - a small piece of grapefruit flesh is not toxic. Peels, seeds, stems, or leaves of citrus fruits could cause neurologic concerns, but a small amount of fruit is unlikely to cause any major issues. Auggie may experience some minor gastrointestinal upset (such as vomiting or diarrhea), but should not be significant. If he does experience some GI upset, consider offering a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days before transitioning back to his normal diet.

Given that Little Girlie didn't eat them and only bit into them, I do not think there will be any problems from this. I do not recommend using peroxide as there is nothing for her to vomit up, and there is no need for activated charcoal if she didn't actually ingest the grapes. She should be fine :-)

Symptoms of grape toxicity usually begin within 24-48 hours of ingestion, so Arlee is likely to be ok if she's had no other symptoms 5 days after eating them. The exact dose of grapes to cause toxicity is unknown, so it is very important that you don't allow Arlee to eat anymore grapes (or raisins). If she's got a rash, then I would take her into your regular vet to be evaluated for that, as there are a few different things that can cause a rash, and she may need medication to help clear it up.
