My dog ate grapes 5 days ago. Is she okay if no other symptoms?

Hello! My dog gsp (26kg) has eaten a few grapes over the last few weeks (approx. 5-10 on 4 different occasions) last being approx. 5 days ago.. she hasn’t been vomitting, no decreased appetite, her nose is just dry and cracked on the top (she also has allergies, currently has a pimple like rash in patches under her stomach from ? Reaction to nexguard, dry nose related or not I’m unsure) I was wondering if it’s been 5 days with no other symptoms but a dry nose will she be ok? Thank you

Symptoms of grape toxicity usually begin within 24-48 hours of ingestion, so Arlee is likely to be ok if she's had no other symptoms 5 days after eating them. The exact dose of grapes to cause toxicity is unknown, so it is very important that you don't allow Arlee to eat anymore grapes (or raisins). If she's got a rash, then I would take her into your regular vet to be evaluated for that, as there are a few different things that can cause a rash, and she may need medication to help clear it up.

I would continue to monitor Sasha just in case, and if you notice any issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, changes in appetite, lethargy, excessive (or no) urination, abdominal pain, confusion, etc, take her in for care ASAP.

My chihuahua ate raisins, no symptoms after 24 hours. Is she okay?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Unfortunately, the answer is “there is no way to know”. Not all dogs will develope any type of kidney injury. The dogs that do get kidney damage sometimes do not show signs on bloodwork for up to 72 hours. To be safe I’d say do a kidney blood panel and urinalysis on Monday. Realistically though, if there is no increased drinking or urinating or any other changes by tomorrow, she is likely to be just fine. Best of luck to you and Luna!

Some dogs can eat grapes without getting ill or having kidney failure, others cannot. Next time you visit a veterinarian with Riker have some blood work done to make sure he has healthy kidneys. Should Riker get lethargic, start drinking a lot of water or has diarrhea or vomits. All these could be signs of kidney disease.

There are no home remedies to prevent any adverse effects from rapes, but poisoning events and kidney failure are quite rare. Not all grapes/raisins appear to be toxic so I recommend monitoring for any change in thirst and urination

Hello. This is always a bit of a quandary because there are no hard rules for raisin & grape consumption in small amounts. A few raisins in a 60-pound dog is probably or no consequence, but some dogs can react to just one. Personally, I would just watch Buddy. Most problems will develop in 6-24 hours, & consist of vomiting &/or diarrhea. If any of these should develop, get to your vet immediately. No vomiting or diarrhea by 48 hours, then he will be fine. My dog ate a grape and vomited. She's better, does she need a vet?

Hi, I dont’ think the vomiting and diarrhoea is related to the grape ingestion. It could be that she has also eaten something else ! I would recommend to have her checked over 48 hours post ingestion to check her blood, to make sure that everything is fine. Hope this helps !
