My dog ate furosemide. Is he okay after taking other prescribed meds?

A single dose (not overdosed) should not cause any harm if your dog is fit and healthy. Monitor him for the day, he may feel weaker than normal and urinate more. Make sure water is available all the time.

Oh no! This sounds very serious and the Lasix alone probably isn't enough to control her symptoms. If she is this sick you should definitely take Roxy back in to the vet to perhaps up her dose of Lasix (there is often a wide range that you can give pets until symptoms resolve) or give her actual heart medication. If the heart is not addressed directly (with medications), then no matter how much Lasix you give, the lungs will continue to fill with fluid due to the direct relationship that is shared between the heart and lungs. You may notice Laci drink more water than usual, and she may have an increased appetite. I recommend reaching out to your vet when they open tomorrow since they know Laci's full history, but most likely they will have you continue her next dose on schedule.

Hello, The drug insert for Lasix (furosemide) states that it does not dissolve well in water. I worry that if the drug doesn't dissolve completely, she may be receiving improper and irregular doses. Unfortunately, it does not look like a good choice for this medication. I would recommend hiding the Lasix in a little piece of food if possible. There may also be an option for you to get the drug compounded by a special pharmacy into a liquid formulation. These pharmacies can also add meat flavorings, etc to make the medication taste better. Your veterinarian likely already has a relationship with a pharmacy that does this and should be able to help you. I hope this is helpful!
