Can I dissolve my dog's Lasix pill in water for easier dosing?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 11 months old | 4 lbs

My do was prescribed Lasix and I was if I could desolve it in a little water to give her it is a 1/2 of a tablet.

Hello,

The drug insert for Lasix (furosemide) states that it does not dissolve well in water. I worry that if the drug doesn't dissolve completely, she may be receiving improper and irregular doses. Unfortunately, it does not look like a good choice for this medication.

I would recommend hiding the Lasix in a little piece of food if possible. There may also be an option for you to get the drug compounded by a special pharmacy into a liquid formulation. These pharmacies can also add meat flavorings, etc to make the medication taste better. Your veterinarian likely already has a relationship with a pharmacy that does this and should be able to help you.
