My dog ate flour from the tub. Should I worry or will he be okay?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 26 days old

I don't know how much but my dog ate some flour from the tub, his face was covered. He had a big drink and he's absolutely fine I was just wondering if this will cause him any problems?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Flour in itself does not tend to cause any issues though depending on the amount ingested, he may experience increased thirst and possibly some gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting, diarrhea and/or loss of appetite. If you notice any signs have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Otherwise, he is likely going to be fine. Good luck and have a good day!

    He may be a bit more thirsty and may have some gastrointestinal upset. Beyond that, there should be no lasting negative effects. Minor GI upset can be managed with a fast followed by a bland diet until symptoms resolve. If they don't, see your veterinarian.

    I don't think this should be harmful. The most that may happen is some mild GI upset. I would not worry too much at this stage. Just monitor her closely for any vomiting/diarrhea. If any is noticed and it lasts longer than 24 hours then call your vet.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think Bubba will be fine as long as the rolls were cooked and it wasn't raw bread dough. I would skip dinner tonight and limit water to sips. Feed normally tomorrow. If he ate raw bread dough he would need to go to the emergency room. Good luck!

The most that will likely happen is he may have some diarrhea. Just keep an eye on him and if he starts vomiting or has severe diarrhea then you should take him to your vet for an exam. Can my cat eat flour? Is it safe for them to ingest or should I be concerned?
Flour is certainly safe for a cat to ingest - it is not something that would alarm me. However, cats are carnivores and are not very good at digesting plant material or grains. So, while flour is just fine as an additive in pet food (grains are often added as part of cat food to help keep it shelf stable), and I would not worry about a cat who licked some flour off the floor, I also would discourage you from intentionally feeding it to your cat, as it is not something they are good at digesting and provides minimal nutrition.
