My dog ate feral kitten poop. Is it serious? When should I call a vet?

Oh dear! It's very common for dogs to do this, unfortunately - most of them love cat poop, and will eat it any chance they get. The good news is, it rarely causes any problems apart from some mild stomach upset as long as he only ate a small amount. If he ingested a large amount of cat litter, there is a chance that this could cause an obstruction in his intestines - this is unusual in my experience, but can happen in dogs who consume really large amounts. Signs of this problem would include repeated episodes of vomiting, not wanting to eat, and not having bowel movements. If you notice any of these issues over the next day or two, then I would recommend taking Marcellus to the vet right away to be checked. But as long as he is eating fine and acting normal, you shouldn't need to worry.

Yes I suspect it's the kitten food causing Buddy to have an upset stomach and vomit. Sudden changes in diet can lead to these symptoms. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) in small amounts a couple times a day for a few days, the start slowly adding in his normal diet. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, vomits the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, continues to have diarrhea, has blood in his stool, and/or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet immediately. You can try changing the litter material to see if she becomes less interested. Otherwise, you may change the litter box to a different place in the house. That may help. Best of luck!

Hello. If the poop looks like it is returning to normal, then I would not be too concerned. There is generally no significant problems associated with drinking some bad milk, as long as it was just for a short time. It sounds that he ate something that irritated his throat, maybe he was bitten by an insect in the mouth or throat. However, if he continues to heave or becomes lethargic, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment.

If this is a behavior that you would like to try and stop, you can try a product called Forbid, which can be found online quite easily.
