My dog ate a dryer sheet. How long should I wait to see a vet?

Hello. If Chip is not ill or acting sick, then he took care of the problem on his own. If he is acting sick, then do not feed him, supply water only if he does not vomit & get him to the vet as soon as you can. But if he seems fine, he will most likely be OK. The dryer sheet doesn't have any toxins that could hurt your dog and if only a small piece is missing, this should pass through his intestinal tract without trouble. Keep an eye out for drooling, vomiting, loss of appetite, or general lethargy. If anything like this happens, get him in to see your vet right away.

It would be fine to give him a small amount of food and monitor. If he eats and does not have any vomiting, then you can resume normal feedings tomorrow. If he has any vomiting and diarrhea, then he should be examined and treated by your vet.

Hi, I think the amount ingested is very small and it should therefore not be dangerous for Murph and hopefully pass through. I would keep and eye on Murph feaces and make sure he is comfortable, eating and not vomiting. If worried, have him checked over but hopefully it will pass through over the next 24 -48 hours.

If she threw up everything she ate, I would just keep an eye on her. You can also pick up her food for a few hours then offer a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice to help with any GI upset. Signs that something more serious is ongoing can include additional vomiting (beyond the peroxide), bloody vomit or diarrhea (that may indicate GI irritation), sore, painful abdomen, or attempting to vomit or have diarrhea without success. If you do see these signs, bringing Vega into your vet for care is best.

If you think he vomited up all the pieces he could have eaten from the dryer sheet and is eating and no longer vomiting then hopefully he will be fine. The chemicals on the dryer sheet could have causes stomach and intestinal irritating resulting in vomiting and diarrhea, The other concern for ingestion is obstruction. So if Ezio isn't eating or continues to vomit he should be seen by a Vet. Hopefully the diarrhea is also self limiting. If the diarrhea continues you should have him seen by your Vet. I would continue to watch Midnight. If she ate part of a bedsheet that gets stuck in her small intestine, dogs will often be lethargic, have a decreased appetite, belly pain, or vomiting. Sometimes things like a sheet will move slowly through the intestines, and it could take 3-5 days to come out. If the dog is feeling ill, then often IV fluids and enemas can help it pass a little faster. If the dog is very ill, then surgery would be needed to remove the obstruction.
