My dog ate a condom 2 months ago. Is it still inside? Should I worry?

Oh dear! Dogs are notorious for eating things they shouldn't on walks, unfortunately. It's possible that the condom may pass through his system without any problems, but it could also become lodged in his stomach or intestines and cause an obstruction. I would recommend continuing to monitor him closely for the next 2-3 days. As long as he's acting normal, you shouldn't need to worry. But if he develops any signs of a blockage such as repeated episodes of vomiting, not wanting to eat, acting lethargic, or not having regular bowel movements, then you will need to take him to the vet right away for an exam and x-rays, as he may need surgery to remove the condom.

In a dog this small a condom could become stuck in her intestines causing an obstruction. If she just ate it you can try to induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide. She can have one teaspoon. If she does not vomit or if she ate it more than one hour ago then you should get her to your vet.

They may pass through without a problem. I recommend feeding the dogs extra now to help them pass through more quickly with the food. Keep an eye on the stool to see if they pass through. In the next day or two if they start vomiting, can’t defecate, or have abdominal pain then you’ll need to get them to a veterinarian. If the condom was entirely in the sick there is nothing to be extremely worried about. I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, lethargy or inappetence. Hopefully Nymeria will be ok. There is always a chance for an intestinal obstruction to occur within the first 2-12hrs of ingesting a foreign body, so continue to monitor her for this time frame for any signs of trouble which include: excessive vomiting ( even water), lack of appetite, abdominal pain and severe lethargy. However things are looking good so far, especially since she has eaten and kept it down.

I am sorry to hear about Apollo! If he is eating and drinking normally, not vomiting, has no abdominal pain and no lethargy, then I would continue to monitor him for another day or two.
