My dog ate a chocolate fudge ThinkThin bar. Will he be okay?

Oh no, that was naughty of Abby to eat the chocolate protein bar! There is likely not a lot of pure chocolate in a protein bar, so she should be fine. It would take at least 19oz of milk chocolate to cause a moderate to severe toxic reaction in a dog her size, and a protein bar will not contain that much chocolate. I hope this helps :-)

Cocoa powder can be quite toxic, and it would take as little as 1/2 of an ounce to cause symptoms of toxicity. I doubt that there is 1/2 ounce of cocoa in a Quest bar, but it can be very difficult to estimate since the exact amounts of ingredients in processed foods are considered proprietary information. My gut feeling is that Emma will be just fine, but you may want to contact Animal Poison Control to be 100% sure - they have access to a lot of proprietary information and might be better a or to estimate. Hi and thanks for your question. If the earth bars had a lot of fat and/or chocolate in them, then that may be a concern. Chocolate can be quite toxic to dogs and a high amount of fat can cause stomach upset and pancreatitis. If the bars had raisins in them, that would also be a red flag. Raisins can cause renal failure in dogs. Macadamia nuts are also another toxic food found in health bars. If these contained anything mentioned above, you may want to see you veterinarian as soon as possible. I hope this helped.

There is not much chocolate in these bars and the good thing is that it is milk chocolate (much less toxic than dark chocolate). Even if each of the bars was solid milk chocolate, he would not get enough for a toxic dose, so Apollo should be fine. If you happen to see him vomiting, then I would be concerned that he ate more than the reported amount, because this would be the first sign of toxicity. If the fudge contained chocolate, the potential problems can vary based on the type of chocolate, amount of chocolate in the recipe, and Zoe's 60 pound body weight. If Zoe ate the fudge within the past 2 hours, I recommend taking her directly to your vet or an emergency vet so that vomiting can be induced. If she does not develop vomiting and diarrhea after 3-4 days, gradually transition her back to her normal diet by mixing the bland diet and normal food together for another 5-7 days.
