Hello, I am very sorry to hear about Sandy.

Depending on the amount ingested or if he chewed the pieces or ingested them in big chunks, this may or may not cause a problem. If this happened recently you could bring Sandy to your veterinarian to try and induce vomiting and get rid of the foam. If it has been longer than 1-2 hours ago I would recommend continuing to monitor Sandy. It is possible that he will experience GI upset secondary to this material since it is foreign to his GI tract. It is also possible that the foam could lead to an obstruction if a large amount was ingested.

I would recommend monitoring him for any vomiting, diarrhea, inappetance, or lethargy. If he develops any of these signs I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian. They can perform x-rays to determine if the foam is causing a blockage in his intestines and discuss the need for further treatment with you.

As long as he's eating and drinking, acting normal, and having regular bowel movements, you shouldn't need to worry. If he stops eating, has any vomiting, or does not have a bowel movement for more than 24 hours, then I would recommend taking him to the vet for an exam and x-rays since these can be signs of a blockage.

Oso needs to go to the veterinarian today for an exam and radiographs to check for an intestinal blockage. Intestinal blockages are fatal without treatment. The longer you wait, the worse this can get. My dog ate styrofoam. Is it dangerous? What symptoms to watch for?

Poor girl. Styrofoam does have the potential to cause an obstruction, although smaller pieces have less of a tendency to do so. Monitor her for signs of an intestinal obstruction which includes excessive vomiting, lack of appetite, abdominal pain and weakness. Typically signs of an obstruction will occur within 24-48 hrs. If she seems fine beyond this then she's in the clear; however if you note these symptoms then take her to the vet immediately. In the meantime, feed her wet (canned) food to help bind it and then take her on 20-30 minute brisk walks twice a day to promote GI motility.

My puppy ate foam padding, is vomiting. Should I see a vet now?

Since Panda ate some foam padding yesterday and has ben vomiting and eating less, my main concern is that he has developed a stomach or intestinal obstruction. He needs to see a vet immediately for an exam and abdominal x-rays to try to determine if he is obstructed. Foreign body obstructions are a surgical emergency. I hope he's on the mend soon!

Hello. The first thing you need to do is recover or throw this bed away. Much depends on how much Snowind may have ingested, but most times only a small piece is ingested. Most pets are just interested in a taste & rarely eat enough to cause a problem. You should just keep an eye on him for any abnormal gastrointestinal signs such as loss of appetite, vomiting or diarrhea over the next several days. This is probably going to cause some problem, at the very least vomiting and constipation but it could also cause an intestinal blockage, i strongly recommend that you take him to the vet in order to have an xray done, this way the vet will be able to assess the situation and treat it accordingly.

Keep an eye out for vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy, or an inability to pass feces. If you see any of those signs, then have her seen by a vet immediately.
