My dog ate candy wrappers. Should I induce vomiting or worry?

You may see some GI upset (vomiting and/or diarrhea). Patriot should be able to pass the small wrappers in the next 24-48 hours. Monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. See your vet if necessary. You may want to feed a bland diet (boiled boneless/skinless chicken breast and plain white rice) for a few days.

If this happened recently, ie within the past 2 hours or so, you should take him to a vet for inducing vomiting. If this has been longer then you need to watch your dog for a tummy ache, diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, as he could get pancreatitis from the food he is not used to. Also the wrappers could cause trouble. Watch his feces, wrappers should show up as they pass through the intestinal canal. If he shows any signs of discomfort, please take him to a veterinarian or Pet ER.

It depends! Some dogs will do fine, others won't. If there is a vet close, I would recommend inducing vomiting in a vet clinic because if it comes up, then there is nothing to worry about! If not, then watch closely over then next 1-2 weeks for signs of obstruction, including decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, etc.

Fortunately, these small wrapers do not easily cause blockages, but unfortunately there is nothing that can be given to prevent a potential blockage. It's also not advised to give anything like a laxative, because this can be dangerous in a potential blockage. The only thing you can do is wait to see if it passes OK. Normal GI transit time is 3-5 days for such things. During this time you would just be waiting to see if she has any signs of an obstruction. Signs of an obstructions are vomiting, not defecating, acting very painful/depressed and a decrease in appetite. If you notice these signs, then Betty would need to go to the vet immediately for emergency surgery.  I hope that helps and all is well with Betty.

Well that was naughty of him. Since there is no toxicity concern and this is a rather small item that has a good chance of passing I would not recommend inducing vomiting. Every time we induce vomiting we do put the pet at risk of aspiration. I would continue to monitor him for signs of any trouble which includes vomiting up food and water, lack of appetite, and lethargy. However if the wrapping was small as I presume for a muffin, he will likely pass this with no issues. If he does have an upset stomach but not signs of blockage as mentioned above, then a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese can be fed for a few days along with 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) To help settle his stomach. I certainly wouldn't worry about inducing vomiting after just one peanut butter cup. The induction of vomiting poses more risks than the peanut butter cup does! Inducing vomiting at home with hydrogen peroxide comes with the risk of aspiration and significant irritation to the esophagus and stomach. The wrapper will pass without a problem. There isn't enough chocolate in a peanut butter cup to cause any toxicity concerns. Worst case scenario, Jack may develop an upset stomach with a bit of vomiting and diarrhea. If he does, you can offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days before gradually transitioning back to his normal food. Yes if it was chewed well then hopefully it will pass out. I recommend feeding more food to help it pass quickly with the food. If he stops eating, becomes painful or is straining to poop without anything being passed then you should take him in for treatment, I expect he will recover without treatment.
