Is this dry, ice cream-like substance antifreeze? Is my dog safe?

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! From what I can find out about these Rapid Relief gel packs is that the contents are not to be ingested but are non-toxic. If ingested by humans or dogs there is generally no concern excepts maybe some tummy upset. It doesn't contain anti-freeze. I would confirm though with poison control to be 100% sure. Hello and thank you for reaching out to pet coach. Generally there is no need to be concerned about ingestion of a very small amount of this type of ice cream. Larger amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, or even pancreatitis in some dogs. However, a small amount is really not going to affect a dog like Tofu. Thank you for reaching out.

I can understand being worried! If the cooling gel is non-toxic, then Kari should be safe. There is a small potential that it could cause some GI upset if she ate a fair amount of it, so if shows vomiting or diarrhea, I would withhold food and feed a bland diet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. Kari should be fine, but you did absolutely the right thing by checking :-)

He could potentially have problems. Depending on how big he is, it doesn't take much. The first signs of antifreeze poisoning is acting like they are drunk. So watch him closely and if seen or any other abnormal behaviors, I would have your vet take a look at him immediately. Your vet will want to do some diagnostics and will need to give him some fluids and an antidote if he is affected by it. I hope this helps.
