How long should I wait for dog allergy testing after a steroid shot?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | spayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 20.3 lbs

If my dog got an steriod shot for allergies 5 days ago. Is it possible to get a blood sample (for allergy testing) now? Will the steriods compromize somehow the results?

No it is not possible to do it now, you will have to wait until the steroids get out of his system, it depends which type of steroid injection was administered, some steroids stay in the system one week, and others up to a month, you will have to ask your vet about that.
