My dog's allergies cause sneezing & mucous. Meds aren't working. Help!

It would be unlikely that the antibiotics are the cause of her sneezing and breathing issue. She could have allergies, an infection, foreign body in her nose, etc. Call your vet and give him/her an update. Your vet may be able to prescribe an anti-histamine to see if that helps. If not, she should be rechecked by your vet to determine the cause and treat.

Allergies can have a wide variety of causes, including flea allergies, food allergies, or allergies to our surrounding environment. If possible, the first step in managing Bam Bam's signs is to determine the underlying allergen. Make sure he is on a high quality flea preventative (Nexgard, Bravecto, or Advantix) once a month year round. Consider if he has been receiving table scraps or has had a recent diet change that may be contributing in cases of food allergies. Otherwise, antihistamines (such as Benadryl) can provide some relief in some pets, but you should always speak with your vet before giving any medication to Bam Bam because they are aware of his previous medical history and any other concurrent medications that are being administered.

If Jeter keeps sneezing frequently, and there has not been any improvement to Benadryl, it would be worth trying stronger anti-allergic medication (for example steroids) or / and a course of antibiotics. If this treatment does not make any difference, the next step would be checking the nasal cavity with a camera.

Bruno needs to be examined by the veterinarian. It's possible he has an infection, allergies or something trapped in the back of his throat. The veterinarian will preform a physical exam and then will go from there. He will likely receive medications to help him breath easier. If the antibiotics are not helping with her sneezing bloody snot, then I would be concerned that her symptoms are caused by something more serious such as a fungal infection or even a tumor. I would take Bonnie back into a vet tomorrow for further testing such as blood tests, urinalysis, a culture of her nasal passages, chest x-rays, and an x-ray of her head. These tests will help the vet see if there is another cause of her symptoms, and then can discuss treatment options with you.

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate respiratory infection and conjunctivitis, probably secondary to an allergy or infection. A check up would be needed to confirm this suspicion and appropriate treatment might include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well (just in case).
