What can I give my dog for acid reflux and quick stomach relief?

I already answered this question. You need to use an oral antacid medication. There is nothing else you can give to stop stomach acid. If you don't want to use the medication then feed the dog smaller, more frequent meals so his stomach does not stay empty for too long.

Hello. Acid reflux can result from several things, not just the production of acid in response to food in the stomach. Esophageal disease/motility disorders, diet, over-secretion of pepsin & non-specific inflammation can all contribute to the problem. It may be as simple as switching to a sensitive skin/stomach formulation of dog food, or an actual GI diet or one geared toward allergies such as Prescription Diet z/d. Pepcid-ac (generic = famotidine) can be used. You can ask your veterinarian for a specific dose recommendation for Zeus (we're not allowed to recommend specific doses since we haven't actually examined your pup).

I was going to suggest the same thing with the pepcid or antacid pills. If that doesn't help I would look into getting her some probiotics like fortiflora which is a powder that goes over the food and can be given daily long term. Another option would be proviable which is a paste that you give orally. Both I would suggest to give long term. I would also make sure your vet has ruled out all parasites including giardia. I have had several patients in the past who have had giardia and showed similar signs. I hope this helps!

Yes, you can give 10mg of Pepcid (famotidine). It should be given once a day at the same time each day. You can give it for 14 days straight and then stop. Hopefully the problem will have resolved by then.
