Why is my dog having accidents at night and eating his poop?

If this is a new behavior I would recommend bringing Tuck along with a stool sample into your vet. This can help rule out some more common issues such as parasites that could be causing GI upset and accidents. Your vet can also examine Tuck for issues such as arthritis that may be making it harder or difficult for Tuck to go potty thus leading to the accidents, or any other health issues that may be affecting his ability to hold it.

Unfortunately the concerns is that there may be a urinary tract infection which needs to be treated with antibiotics. I recommend to get her into see the veterinarian and have her urine checked for infection or crystals as these can commonly show up like this. Sometimes very concentrated urine can smell stronger and in that instance, you want to increase the drinking. This can be achieved by adding water to the food but it sounds like she is already drinking a lot. Play it safe and have her urine checked to be sure. Since it sounds like this is a recent behavior change, the first step would be to have Stain examined by a vet to see if there may be a medical reason that he is pooping in strange places - there are many illnesses that can cause dogs to suddenly begin having house-training accidents, so your vet may recommend doing a fecal exam and possibly some blood work to check for any problems. If everything comes back normal, then this behavior may be a result of stress or anxiety, or some recent change in his routine. In that case, I would recommend going back to basics with house-training for the next few weeks to help get things back on track - take him out frequently, and go for long walks if needed so that he has plenty of opportunity to poop outside. When he does, reward with a treat. In the house, supervise closely to prevent accidents and use a crate if needed to confine him at night or when you aren't able to watch him. Once he has gone a few weeks without any accidents, you can gradually transition back to his normal routine.

Crating actually helps with separation anxiety, as it gives a dog a safe place of their own. I wouldn't feel terrible for putting Duke in there, as it can be a fun place for a dog to be in, and it helps them feel secure. That being said, him pooping two nights in a row could actually be due to a medical illness as opposed to separation anxiety. He could be suffering from diarrhea, which would make him have to poop immediately. I would take him into the vet in the morning for an exam. Diarrhea in dogs can be caused by intestinal parasites, GI illness, a sudden change in diet. or a foreign body. The vet can diagnose if he does have a medical illness causing the pooping in the night, and can treat accordingly.

He could have a urinary tract infection or a medical condition that makes him urinate more. The best thing would be to have your vet run a urinalysis and blood-work to rule out medical causes. If the lab-work is normal then you should make sure you take him out as late as possible before bed time and you could also limit the amount of water he drinks late at night.

Keep in mind that this may be unrelated to the crystals and can even be something like urinary incontinence. I would continue monitoring for signs of painful urination or bloody urine. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further diagnostics would include abdominal imaging and lab work. Hi. He may be sneezing. You can talk to your veterinarian about an antihistamine. If he's a puppy, it is common for them to eat there own poop. There is a powder called forbid that can help them stop that habit. In the meantime, I would keep him on a leash to potty and pick up the feces right away. Playbiting is also common in puppies. I would say no firmly, ignore him, and redirect him to something he can chew on. As far as the pottying, you may need to add more pads, and also take him out every 1 to 2 hours and use positive reinforcement when he does it right. Good luck
