My puppy has worms. Should I deworm all my dogs, including seniors?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Cattle Dog | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 22 days old | 8 lbs

I have 2 7 week old blue heeler puppies and just noticed worms in one of their feces. I know a broad spectrum dewormer should work however I also have her mom and a senior Yorkie. Do I need to go ahead and treat all 4 of my babies?

Older dogs are more resistant to parasites and your Yorkie may not have any. If your Yorkie has any health conditions it might be best to have her stool tested by your vet to see if she needs treatment. If she has had a recent vet exam and is in good health it is probably okay to go ahead and deworm her just to be safe.
