Do Chow Chow puppies bark a lot? What are their personality traits?

It really depends on the individual dog. Virtually all dogs can learn obedience skills as long as the trainer is good, but protection work and getting along with other dogs will depend a lot on his individual personality. If you want a dog to do these things, I would strongly recommend getting a pup from a breeder whose dogs have the qualities that you're looking for - this will dramatically increase the chances that your puppy will have a suitable temperament for these things.

Chihuahuas are, by nature, noisy little guys. It's likely that they evolved to become excessive barkers because their small size makes barking one of the few ways they can gain attention. There is no standard for barking- all dogs are individuals and some are more vocal or more easily bored out than others! Try to increase play time and use puzzle feeders and chew toys go help keep him occupied, remember to reduce his meals accordingly. It is difficult to assess his body condition score in the picture but he appears to be developing well and would be expected to be fully grown at 10-11months

It's normal for puppies this age to be friendly and not bark - if she were barking at people at this young age, I would be very concerned that she would grow up to be fearful and anxious around strangers. She should start to alert bark when she's older, usually around 10-12 months of age.

I love Chows, I have one myself and think they are the best dogs! You won't necessarily get a better quality puppy if you pay more for it. Some breeders will charge more depending on their expenses and what procedures are done on the puppies as well as the dam and sire. What's most important is to find out what tests have been done on the dam and sire. That will determine if your puppy will be better quality or not. The tests I'm referring to are for potential hereditary problems. In the Chow, this would be for the eyes, hips, and joints. I will include a link below about Chows and tests they should have done before breeding to make sure that their puppies are as healthy as possible. Ask the breeder if they've done any of these tests, and ask to see the paperwork. If they haven't done the tests, do not get a puppy from them. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Labrador Retrievers are incredible dogs that sometimes love everybody. They do not always make the best watch dogs. But, he is still very young, & when he matures, he may become more protective of his home & bark more. Otherwise, remember, people can be very wary of large dogs, & this may be enough to keep people out. Take care.
