Bulldog puppy with broken elbow won't eat. How to comfort him?

Poor Cooper! It sounds like he is in a lot of pain if he is having problems putting weight on his limbs and isn't eating or drinking. I would be concerned he may have a problem with his neck, back, or hips causing this difficulty. The best thing to do is rest him as much as possible until you can get out and get him into a vet. Please do not give him any human pain medications, many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. You may have to use a sling under his abdomen back by his hips to help support him when he gets up, and I would keep food and water near him so he doesn't have to move much to get to it. Try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts. As soon as you can, get him into a vet, which hopefully can be soon. I hope this helps!

Oh no! Since Griffin seems painful, the best thing you can do is take him to the vet to determine if a fracture is present or if a soft tissue injury (such as a sprain) is present. The vet will be able to prescribe any necessary pain medications, but do not use anything over the counter for pain, as none are safe for dogs. Until you can get to the vet, keep Griffin confined to a very small room or crate to prevent him from moving much or trying to jump, as this could exacerbate any injury. You can try tempting him to eat with a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice, but Griffin is most likely not eating due to discomfort. I hope that he feels better soon!

Your poodle needs to be seen by a veterinarian. He needs to at least drink, so you can syringe water into him so he does not dehydrate. His jaw will need to be surgically fixated which actually is not a serious surgery provided it is not shattered. He will be fine not eating until tomorrow when you can take him to a veterinarian for an exam and treatment.

Of course other unrelated causes for her not to eat cannot be completely excluded. With these types of injuries, there is usually more trauma than what can be seen from the outside. I recommend that you have Hallie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may take radiographs to check her bones in the affected leg. They would be able to check the extent of her injuries and proceed with therapy as indicated. She may require antibiotics, further local wound therapy and pain control medications. Hi, it is impossible to keep an elbow still enough to allow healing of the fracture.. being a joint there is always the tendency to move. So yes I agree that surgery would be the way forward. Hope Rubble makes a speedy recovery.!

I suspect he is in a lot of pain if he won't eat or drink, and walks really slow. He could also have internal injuries. You cannot treat this at home, he has to see a vet immediately. Leaving him like this would be cruel to him, so please take him into a vet now to get this treated. Best of luck.
