Is 10 weeks old too late to bring home a puppy? Can I still train him?

It is never too soon to start some basic training and at 9 weeks she should be more than ready even if she is small. I would keep training sessions short but frequent. If she loses interest, stop and try again in a few hours. It's definitely not too late for FatDaddy to get his shots - you can do this at any age if they haven't been done already :) I'm not sure what kind of papers you're referring to here. You can certainly get a vaccination certificate for him from your vet, once the shots are given. If you mean AKC registration papers (or "papers" through some other kennel club), this will depend on whether his parents were registered or not. Hi there. At 10 weeks old, the pup is overdue for her first set of vaccines, so I would take her to a vet immediately as soon as you get her for a health check and to get her vaccinations started. She may also need to be dewormed, if this hasn't been done recently.

No, 1.5 years old is definitely not too old to be able to train your new dog and establish a routine in your home - I wouldn't worry about this at all :) Adult dogs can be a wonderful choice for adoption, especially if you don't have lots of extra time to deal with housebreaking and socializing a puppy. Dogs can be trained at any age, and generally adapt very well to a new routine and living environment. So if the dog seems like a good fit for you, I would say go for it.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! 5 weeks is a bit young to leave her mother but if she is fully weaned it should be ok. We usually do not start vaccines until they are 7 weeks of age. Some breeders will give them a parvo vaccine at under 7 weeks. You should be fine until she gets her first vaccine but people with sick dogs or unvaccinated dogs shouldn't handle her and she needs to be kept away from all dogs. I hope this helps and good luck!

At six weeks her immune system is very vulnerable to disease and she must be isolated away from unvaccinated dogs and exposure to wildlife until she is fully protected - i recommend an urgent vet check to assess her vaccination and deworming history and to make sure she is otherwise well. Her training can begin right away and it is important for her to develop a sense of independence and security away from you to prevent separation anxiety as she gets older

I think this may be a repetition of a previous question... That is absolutely fine, as long as Gohan is appropriately vaccinated and treated for worms and fleas.
