I recently moved in with a roommate and her dog. I've quickly realized I'm not the "alpha" of the pack... It's either her or her dog.... Just wondering what I can do to restore my alpha position in my dogs eyes

First, you can forget about that "alpha" business. Dogs are not pack animals in the way that wolves are. (Anyway, you wouldn't be able to have three "alphas" in the house!) I would suggest that you enroll in a good beginner obedience class with the dog, so that you can learn the correct way to interact with him. The more you train with him, the closer your bond will be. Ask your roommate if you can take over care of the dog, at least for a while.
