Why are there black specks on my 12-week-old puppy's ear flap?

My 12 week old puppy has some black specks in and on the flap of his ear, what is it? Also he gets his second set of shots on Sunday will that make a difference of help?

It's difficult to tell from the pictures but these specks appear to be in the hair rather than on the skin of the ear. My biggest suspicion is that they are potentially fleas and/or flea dirt. Below is a link to information about fleas that will help you identify and get rid of them.

If it's not fleas, then it's some other debris and I would need to inspect it more closely in order to tell exactly what it is. If he is going to the vet for shots, then they can have a good look and help you identify the cause of this. The vaccines would not help this, but can likely still be given.
