I have a golden retriever puppy of 13 almost 14 weeks, what is the best food for him? And how much should we give it daily? Thank you.

I would recommend feeding a large breed puppy chow. Some brands of food I like include Hills/Science Diet, Purina, Royal Canin, Iams and Eukanuba. These brands have veterinary nutritionist that formulate the diets so you know they are complete and balanced for your puppy. Your Golden will need a large breed puppy food because it has a different balance of specific minerals and vitamins your dog will need because he will be growing so quickly. As for the amount of food, it will change as your dog gains weight. I usually recommend going by the feeding guide on the back of the bag and then adjust from there as needed.

I would always recommend getting a high quality food such as royal canin, hill's science plan or such other food that is usually sold in vets. You should buy one specifically targeted towards a large breed puppy. I would recommend feeding at least twice a day, some large breed puppies may need 3 meals at first but will naturally wean to 2. I feed both my pups in royal canin and they do really well on it.

I would recommend a large breed puppy food (if the pup is expected to be over 50#). The brands I prefer and think are the most well balanced and palatable are Hills, Royal Canin, Iams, Purina, and Eukanuba.
I hope this helps. Thanks for using pet coach. Best of luck.

Especially for large breed puppy is fundamental to provide a complete diet. Good quality commercial diets (Hill's, Royal Canin) are definitively the best choice to make sure you provide all the nutrients Scooby needs. He need a puppy diet and you can continue with it till he is fully grown. Regarding the daily amount, it depends on the brand and type of food you get, you will find the correct dose on the back of the food package. If you would like further advices, upload a picture of the food of your choice and we will be able to let you know the exact dose. Please post again on the forum if you would like further advices. I hope this answer was helpful.
