My cat's white coat got darker after grooming. How to whiten it?

Worst case is you can clip the fur and it will grow back white. I know that isn't an instant answer but its a reasonable one! Good luck!

This should be fine as long as it isn’t a whitening shampoo and it is just that the color of the shampoo is literally white. If it is a whitening shampoo I would just read the label carefully as some could mess up Jan’s hair. If you are unsure, it may be best to use just a regular cat shampoo or diluted dawn soap (1:2 mixture of dawn:water). Also be careful to not get any shampoo in the eyes. I hope this helps!

Saliva staining can have this discoloration on fur or it may be a reaction to rubbing against something. Sometimes they over groom and lick an area due to an allergy or a wound or stress if there was change of some sort. If you can break the cycle and find the underlying cause, they hair will grow back out white and look normal again

Hi there and thank you for your post! I would recommend using a shampoo, that you can pick up at your local pet store and bathe that area once per day for the next 14 days. If it does not come out, you may have to shave the hair off in that area to that the new hair will grow back the original color. These dark specs are essentially embedded dirt. This stuff is difficult to remove, but will eventually return to normal with regular bathing and a few weeks of time. This is generally not concerning, and there's no signs of infection or irritation, but this can indicate a flea infestation, so it's good to check her carefully for any signs of fleas. Hello. It is not uncommon when there has been damage to the hair follicles, that the hair can regrow a different color or even a different texture. I have seen pets that have sustained severe bites or burns regrow coats lighter or darker, but the most amazing one was a little short haired rat terrier that regrew a coat like a little lamb. It did stay this way for his life, but never seemed to affect him. I would not be too concerned as this is just the way Brownie's bodied repaired the damaged follicles. Sounds like Ghengis has a yeast infection. You need to bathe him with this shampoo: https://www.vetopia.com.hk/en/malaseb-shampoo.html Wet him, lather the shampoo, leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. The contact time of 10 minutes is very important!! Do this every 2-3 days until the smell is gone and he is back to normal. If this doesn't work or it clears up but happens again then you need to take him to your vet for an exam. Hope this helps!
