Is my 'natural' waterless shampoo truly safe for my sensitive pet?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are parts of the Aloe Vera plant that is toxic to animals. If the shampoo is made for dogs and cats it should be fine for puppies. If you are unsure then use an oatmeal based shampoo or just use Dawn dish soap. I hope this helps!

I wouldn't recommend adding either of these essential oils to your pets shampoo because they don't provide any health benefits for your dog. Also there is no literature to suggest what is a safe dosage that can be applied to your pet, if at all. If your pet has some skin condition then I would encourage buying a shampoo that is already formulated and tested as safe for Boovs to have. The Duoxo shampoo line (available on line through amazon.com) is a safe and effective alternative that can help if Boovs has a certain skin condition. If he doesn't have a skin condition then a regular over the counter aloe based or oatmeal based puppy shampoo is adequate. The haircoat is most affected by what the pet eats than what is applied topically. Feeding a high quality puppy food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Evo, or Eukanuba are best. I'm not sure what you mean by this - there are chemicals in everything we use in life, which is not necessarily a bad thing :) If there is a specific ingredient you're concerned about in your pet's shampoo, feel free to post again with your concerns. Hello Lipaz, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I definitely advocate for people using a more natural detergent not only for their pets but also for themselves/family. There are way too many chemicals in laundry detergent. Now, has there been any direct correlation between laundry detergent and illnesses in pets? No, but that doesn't mean there isn't any. There is a lot we don't know. I recommend either making your own laundry detergent (many recipes on YouTube and it is not difficult) or you can buy something like Seventh Generation. Hello. Thank you for using PetCoach. You should not have to use any flea shampoo now that she is on the Nexgard. Those flea shampoos are harsh on their skin and full of chemicals. You can use the L'oreal but it is not really recommended. If you do use it, use it sparingly and don't make it a habit. Dog skin is a different pH than ours, therefore, our shampoos tend to dry them out and strip the natural oils from their coats. I suggest you use a calming dog shampoo like this one. It will not dry her out or strip the oils. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach! Making your own shampoo May be difficult. Baking soda will not cause kidney failure but using improper ratios of ingredients could harm the skin. I would lean towards getting a shampoo such as Duoxo Calm for a maintenance shampoo. This particular shampoo will help strengthen the skin to keep it well hydrated and to prevent dandruff and itching secondary to dry skin. Iv san bernard is another product line that you can use that provides high quality natural shampoos. I hope this helps!
