My unvaccinated cat is lethargic, unbalanced. Stroke or rabies?

I would take Mau Mau to he vet asap as it sounds like he is very poorly. He could have a nasty infection going on or could be feeling lousy from the vaccine. He may need supportive care until he feels well enough to eat again.

Poor kitites. Lethargy and weakness can cause pets to stagger. Numerous things oculd be causing this including: anemia (low red blod cell count), or any other underlying illness. Without any other sympotms to speak of, there isn't much else to speculate on. Hopefullyt he vet can gether more information after a thorough physical exam and possibly even testing for infectious disease (FELV/FIV). I hope that your kitties are going to be ok moving forward. Neurologic signs like difficulty walking, unusual behavior and seizures are potential signs of rabies. If there is any concern I'd recommend taking him to a veterinarian right away. Other causes of difficulty walking could include trauma or other infectious diseases like toxoplasmosis.

Oh my. These are all very serious symptoms, especially for a cat. They can indicate he could have a number of things going on including: a stroke, seizure, vestibular disease or even brain cancer. Poor Hunter. This definitely could be a stroke, a brain tumor, or an inner ear infection. I would first have your vet take a look at him to see if they think he can be treated. If they are unsure, they may suggest treating for an inner ear infection by starting antibiotics. They may also suggest steroids which will help to decrease the inflammation and may even reduce the size of a brain tumor just enough so he isn't showing this symptoms. I would ask your vet for prices on everything before they do it or prescribe it and they will do their best to find a solution that meets your needs. Just know that you do not have to run 100 tests if you cannot afford it. It is okay to just give him some medicine to help treat a few different things and see if he improves. If not and he is having a hard time eating or drinking, then you may need to consider his quality of life. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon. Poor Tosio! I'm sorry to hear that she's sick. If she isn't fully vaccinated, I would be concerned that she might have an illness called feline panleukopenia, which is a very serious infectious disease of kittens that causes lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, and often death if not treated promptly. It's also possible that she may have gotten into something toxic, or contracted some other type of infection. Since she sounds quite sick, I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic this evening to be seen. If you're not sure where to go, try calling your regular vet's office - their voicemail message should have contact information for your nearest ER or an on-call doctor for emergencies.

Please take your kitten to the vet immediately. It sounds like she may be having neurologic symptoms, which could be due to low blood sugar associated with not eating and drinking, and she is very likely dehydrated. This is potentially deadly, and your kitten should be seen right away to check her blood sugar levels, assess for dehydration, and address the cause of her weakness. Another very serious concern in a stray kitten is the possibility of rabies infection, which is transmitted from the saliva of infected mammals, can be passed on to humans, and is fatal. There may also be other underlying neurologic causes for her condition, and a veterinarian can help determine the cause and start treatment .
