Why is my unneutered 11-month-old male cat meowing and crying at night?

I see that Callie isn't neutered. He may be sexually mature, and he wants to go outside to prowl for females. Cats like to do this at night, and that could be why he is excessively meowing. I would have him neutered to see if this stops the behavior. Best of luck.

I see that Lucifer isn't neutered. More than likely, he has reached sexually maturity, and wants to go out to find females with which to mate. Probably soon he will start urine marking in the house to mark his territory. Even letting him out to mate will not stop the behavior, it will continue. I think you are saying that Toby is neutered. That is good because male cats can vocalize when they are trying to mark their territory. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian for a good exam. It is important to rule out medical reasons for his vocalization like constipation, trouble urinating, pain, infection or oral disease. If he appears in good health I would be concerned about behavioral issues. Even though he is neutered he can still try to make or claim territory. You can try felioway around the areas. He is just now reaching sexual maturity, and as long as he is not neutered, he will be very motivated to roam and look for female cats.
