Can I safely transport a cat and her day-old kittens when moving?

They should be fine to travel together in a pet carrier. I would recommend using one a little larger than you would use if it was just Celestia. You could also put them in a moving box and secure a towel over the top to prevent Celestia from trying to get out, though this isn't as secure as a pet carrier.

Many cats are very bad travellers and the stress of such a long journey in a heavily pregnant cat may induce complications and early delivery of the kittens; it would be unsafe to try to sedate her for such a journey. I recommend you try to find somebody to look after her until after she has had the kittens and they are weaned (4-5weeks of age)

Hello. No, I do not think a drive that long will be particularly stressful for your new kitten. Offer food & water up to about an hour before leaving. Keep the kitten crated on the floor of your vehicle ( not the seat ), with a light sheet covering it. This will help to decrease motion stress. While at your parent's house, you will continue to bond with the kitten. You do all the feeding & litter box cleaning, but everyone else can, of course, play with her. She is so young, that once you return home, she will figure things out pretty quickly. Take care.

Depending on how long the trip is, it may be advisable to buy a large crate to put in the backseat so they can have a small portable litter box and a bed. This will also keep them from jumping around the car, keeping them (and you) safer. If your cats have a history of car sickness or nausea, I would reach out to your veterinarian to discuss a prescription (cerenia) that may help with it. Finally, some cats have a strong aversion to the car. If your cats have a history of stress or anxiety in ththe car, you could also reach out to your veterinarian to discuss a sedative, if needed. You can move the kittens - if you are planning to socialize the kittens and either keep them yourself or adopt them out it would actually be ideal to handle them when they are young. It is unlikely that the mother will reject them, but she may try to move them back unless you cut off access to the other room.
