How to transport a mother cat and her newborn kitten when moving?

In looking up the distance from Calgary to Red Deer, I see that it's only about an hour and a half drive (about 147km). Because it's a relatively short trip, it will be fine to take Angel and her kittens with you. I would get a crate that is large enough to hold Angel and her kittens, and make it very comfortable with lots of blankets. Make sure the kittens are kept warm at all times, and they have access to their mother to nurse. You can put a round cat bed in the crate to help keep them close to their mother during the trip. Don't blare loud music, and try to keep the car as quiet and calm as possible.

Many cats are very bad travellers and the stress of such a long journey in a heavily pregnant cat may induce complications and early delivery of the kittens; it would be unsafe to try to sedate her for such a journey. I recommend you try to find somebody to look after her until after she has had the kittens and they are weaned (4-5weeks of age)

Depending on how long the trip is, it may be advisable to buy a large crate to put in the backseat so they can have a small portable litter box and a bed. Hello. No, I do not think a drive that long will be particularly stressful for your new kitten. Offer food & water up to about an hour before leaving. Keep the kitten crated on the floor of your vehicle ( not the seat ), with a light sheet covering it. This will help to decrease motion stress. While at your parent's house, you will continue to bond with the kitten. You do all the feeding & litter box cleaning, but everyone else can, of course, play with her. She is so young, that once you return home, she will figure things out pretty quickly. Take care.

You should purchase a cat carrier to safely travel with Mennu. I have a link to a few examples below. It would be best to get Mennu as familiar with the carrier as possible prior to travel to help reduce stress - leave the carrier out so she can explore it.
