How to know if my female cat is spayed without a visible scar?

If she was spayed at an animal shelter, sometimes you can also see a small tattoo in the ventral abdomen next to the spay incision. I would consider having her evaluated by your veterinarian as they can both check that but also check for possible reasons for the blood such as a urinary tract infection. Good luck and best wishes!

It can be difficult to know if they've been spayed or not if you don't have any medical records. You can request that the vet shave her belly to look for a spay scar, but they can be very faint if she was spayed at a very young age. If she still has signs of heat, then either she hasn't been spayed or there is some ovarian tissue still present inside her. You can have a hormone test (AMH) done to confirm that there still is ovarian tissue and then you know she needs surgery to remove it. Or the vet can just go to surgery to go look for it.

With female cats it's very difficult, the best way would just be to wait and see if she shows signs of being in heat, which happens quite often in intact female cats, if she doesn't in the next 6 months or so, then she is most likely spayed.

That could be absolutely normal, I would recommend to keep her indoors as much as possible and do not stress her (like touching her belly) if she does not want/like it. If there are no other signs a part from the ones you described, I would not be worried at this stage. Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is absolutely possible for animals to be hermaphrodites or "intersex", just like humans. This could lead to her being naturally sterile. There are blood tests that can tell if a cat has been spayed. Sometimes kittens are spayed when they are very young and better at healing their surgery scars. I would recommend getting this test done to find out because if she is not spayed and does have a uterus, it can cause health problems later in life. I hope this helps!

You can try feeling her belly for a spay scar - this would usually feel like a line of firmer tissue just beneath the skin, along the center line of the abdomen near the belly button. In some spayed females this is fairly easy to feel, but in others it can be very subtle and difficult to identify. If you can't feel anything, I would suggest having Baby checked by your vet - he/she may be able to feel a scar, since we're used to checking for them :) If there does not appear to be a scar, then you could opt to have a blood test done by your vet to see if she is spayed or not, or wait to see if she comes into heat and have her spayed then if she does

Hi there. You can take your cat to a vet of your choosing and they can likely tell if Figaro has been spayed with an exam. Sometimes some additional testing is needed but not usually. The vet can often see a scar on her abdomen from where she had surgery and that is often proof enough.
