How to check if a recently adopted female stray dog is spayed?

My daughter recently bought home a stray female dog. Is there a way to tell if she had been neuter

You can try feeling her belly for a spay scar - this would usually feel like a line of firmer tissue just beneath the skin, along the center line of the abdomen near the belly button. In some spayed females this is fairly easy to feel, but in others it can be very subtle and difficult to identify.

If you can't feel anything, I would suggest having Baby checked by your vet - he/she may be able to feel a scar, since we're used to checking for them :) If there does not appear to be a scar, then you could opt to have a blood test done by your vet to see if she is spayed or not, or wait to see if she comes into heat and have her spayed then if she does
