Swelling under my cat's eye: What is it and what can I do at home?

That looks like an infection with how red it is and the fur lose. Allergies and skin mites would be other potential causes though less common. There may not be much you can do at home. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for pets, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. Also protect the area from trauma by having your kitty wear an elizabethan collar at all times. The pictures are quite dark, so it's not possible to actually see the eye, but this type of case is usually due to a scratch to the outside of the eye, or a foreign body stuck under the eyelid. Scratches to the outside of the eye are not usually easy to see and we often need to apply a special stain to the eye in order to detect it. For now, it's best if you can flush the eye with normal saline. Saline flush can be bought at the pharmacy, or supermarket in the eye care section. Flush the eye 3-4 times daily and gently wipe away the discharge with a warm/moist cotton or cloth. It's also possible that there is an infection in the eye, or conjunctiva that is causing this. That is an odd bump on Moteur. I think a warm compress twice daily is a good idea. It may be something like a minor infection or perhaps a fluid filled cyst. Make sure to protect it from Moteur scratching at it (make him wear an elizabethan collar if you need to). Given that its so close to his eye, I would be hesitant to try to apply any ointment as I fear he would move and end up getting something in the eye. If that lesion starts to swell, look inflamed, ruptures, or is still there in a month, then I think you should have him examined by his veterinarian. Although it does not look like it is connected to his actual eye, monitor that as well for redness, squinting or excessive tearing. I hope this helps and hopefully that goes away quickly! Poor Tiger! It sounds like he may have a corneal ulcer or very severe conjunctivitis. Eye conditions can be very painful and can quickly progress to emergencies, so Tiger should be seen by a vet right away, as an ulcer is unlikely to heal on its own. I would guess that Greggy has an upper respiratory infection. This can cause eye swelling and discharge from conjunctivitis along with sneezing and nasal discharge. A scratch on the eye might also be possible. If there are absolutely no vets around today (you might want to try travelling to see an emergency vet) then I'd recommend keeping Greggy comfortable until he can see a vet - he may need antibiotics and prescription eye ointment. You should make sure he's eating and drinking - you may want to try offering canned food if his appetite seems decreased.

I am sorry to hear about your kitty. I would recommend an examination by his vet when their office reopens. If your kitty is lethargic, not eating, painful, or has a fever (rectal temperature above 102.5) then a visit to the emergency vet would be recommended. With swelling like this we would worry about residual infection, reaction to suture material, foreign body in the eye, seroma or hematoma in the socket, tumor presence in the eye. In the meantime you can try applying a cool compress/ice pack (wrapped in a thin cloth) over the area if it seems uncomfortable for 10 minutes every few hours.
