Getting a Sphynx? How often should they see a vet & what care tips?

I would recommend using a shampoo called Duoxo PS calm shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved. You can also apply a spray to the affected area such as malacetic conditioning spray. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to make a cats hair longer then it is supposed to be. I recommend vaccinations starting at 8 weeks of age every 3-4 weeks until they are about 16 weeks of age. If Shadow had not gotten any vaccinations yet then I recommend taking him to a veterinarian as soon as you can and start vaccinations. I do not recommend bathing a cat unless medically necessary or he gets himself dirty. Cats tend not to like water and they do not do well typically with baths. A 5 year old kitty with no medical issues should see the veterinarian once a year. A 9 year old kitty with no medical issues should see a veterinarian every 6 months. As pets age, symptoms of some age-related diseases can be extremely subtle, so we recommend monitoring them more closely.

HCM can occur at any age but is more common in adult cats. An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) can be done at 2-3 years of age. If the echo is clear, recheck every other year until 8-9 years of age. Yearly echocardiograms should be done at this point. If symptoms (lethargy, difficulty breathing, coughing, murmur, arrythmias, sudden paralysis) develop sooner, have your cat examined by your veterinarian or a veterinary cardiologist every 6 months or yearly beginning at an earlier age.

If it is blood or green, yellow mucous then yes but if he is eating and drinking fine you don't have to make it an emergency trip unless there is a nose bleed. Monitor his eyes because if they get a respiratory infection they can also get conjunctivitis

You should contact your veterinarian and discuss everything that is going on. One thing to do immediately is to spay her if you aren't going to breed her. I would advise against breeding her due to her aggressive behavior. That could be passed to her kittens. Your vet can take a detailed history, explore the situations of the attacks, and perform a physical examination. They may advise some blood/urine tests and x-rays to make sure that she doesn't have a medical problem causing this behavior. Once a medical problem is ruled out, your vet can discuss behavior modification and drug therapy to help discourage these attacks. Again this is important and serious. Please seek professional help immediately for her.

Congratulations! What a beautiful kitten! Most vets start a vaccine series between 6-8 weeks of age, and will also deworm or check stool samples at the first visit. Following that, they typically need a visit/booster every 3-5 weeks until they are a few months old. The exact vaccines schedule will be individualized by your vet. They may also recommend parasite prevention or routine dewormers. Other things you can do at home include feeding a high quality kitten food, checking their urine and stool output and getting them used to being handled. Becoming well socialized is very important! Make sure they have plenty of vertical space like a cat tree, handle him gently and frequently - get him used to having his nail trims, etc. Don't let him bite you:) It looks like you are off to a great start!
