My old cat is too thin and won't eat. What supplemental food works?

However, other causes for weight loss include underlying medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism, diabetes, IBD, and cancer - all of these and others can be ruled out by your vet. You can definitely encourage Lady Patches to eat more by moistening her dry food or getting a food that is in smaller pieces. Hi, I am concerned your cat is sick with something serious. She really needs to see a vet for some blood work to see if she has kidney or liver issues. Until you can get her to a vet, you can blend up canned cat food in a blender and add water to make it a paste. use a syringe with no needle and drip it into her mouth. She needs nutrition somehow. If she vomits it up, there's not much you can do and she needs to see a vet. If she keeps it down, continue syringe feeding her food and make an appointment to see a vet. I am sorry there are no home remedies for this. Good luck!

First off, Lonestarr needs to see a vet. He could have a dental problem preventing him from eating correctly and thus causing the weight loss, or he could have a medical illness like kidney disease causing the weight loss. I'd take him into the vet in the morning. If he checks out healthy, then the vet can discuss safe ways to get him to gain weight.
