My 13-week puppy is small. Does she need another DAPPV shot?

First of all, Dodger is adorable! As far as boostering his vaccines, it is recommended that the DAPP (distemper-adenovirus-parvovirus-parainfluenza) vaccine is given every 3-4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age. If Dodger receives his first DAPP vaccine at 8 weeks of age, he could receive 3 boosters (at 8, 12, and 16 weeks) or 4 boosters (at 8, 11, 14, and 17 weeks) depending upon how you schedule his booster appointments. There is no right or wrong way to handle his boosters as long as he receives them until at least 16 weeks of age since his mom's antibodies will wear off sometime before the 16 week mark. When you are discussing vaccinations I am assuming you are referring to the distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza combination vaccine (DAPP). If Theodore is only about 6 weeks old he will need at least 3-4 more DAPP vaccines spaced approximately one month apart to be fully protected against distemper. Because Theodore will be at risk until he receives all of his distemper booster shots it is best to minimize his risk by not taking him to places where sick dogs may have been. So avoiding dog parks, pet stores, and kennels is a good idea. I would recommend starting veterinary visits for Theodore around 8 weeks of age so he can be examined and another DAPP vaccine can be given. Please remember to bring a fecal sample with you to the vet visit so he can be checked for intestinal parasites. Hello, puppies under a year of age should have 3 sets of the DDP injection, 2 of the bordetella and a rabies injection. This series is typically completed by 16 weeks of age. So if Stoney has had all of his series, then he should be not need any more vaccines until 1 year from his previous vaccine. If he has not had the entire series of vaccines, he may still need additional bordetella, DDP, or even his rabies vaccine. The best way to determine this is by looking at his vaccine record, which your veterinarian should have available. Hope this helps and best of luck.

It depends on when Luna got her vaccines started. The vaccine series ends at 16 weeks of age because that is when her immune system is fully mature. It looks like she is still just shy of 16 weeks so I would recommend one final set between 16-18 weeks of age. I hope this helps clear things up!

Puppies need a series of DA2PP (also called DHPP, combo boosters or Distemper/Parvo) vaccinations every 2-4 weeks until they reach at least 16 weeks of age (but up to 18-20 weeks in some cases). Lepto is an optional vaccination that does need to be boostered once. Bordatella is an optional vaccination as well. What your veterinarian is recommending appears to be the appropriate boosters of the vaccines that Toffee previously received. Hi there. Unfortunately the vaccine label picture is very blurry and difficult to see. However, the typical 5 in 1 / DHPP vaccine is the vaccine for canine distemper , hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus. As best as I can tell she had the appropriate vaccine at 8 weeks of age and should have it again now at 12 weeks. It is also recommended to booster again at 16 weeks. Good luck with your pup!
