Pregnant cat nesting in packed wardrobe: Is it safe to move items?

Hello, it may be hard to get her to change her nesting location. They ideally want a private, quiet, location where they feel safe. It’s probably why she preferred your closet, therefore, providing her with a close alternative may change her location. Alternatively, you can put something in your closet to prevent her from coming in or keep the closet doors shut. Ultimately, you may not be able to fully avoid this and could maybe get her a basket or some other form of container where she can have her kittens that whay your closet could remain clean. I would recommend to keep her indoors only since she is due to have the kittens any day now. Allow her to have plenty of space away from the other cats so that she can be undisturbed by them for a period of time if she chooses to be. Nesting boxes are great, but ultimately she will choose to whelp wherever she is most comfortable. Clean, quiet areas where she can be away from the other cats is best. I would also recommend to use this time to have the male neutered, so that this does not happen again. Best of luck to your momma-to-be!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Bissy feels for some reason that her kittens are not safe. I would get Bissy and the kittens and put them in a spare bedroom closet. Use a laundry basket, cardboard box or a large dog carrier with towels. Put her food, water and litter box in the room. Keep people, other animals and children away from the kittens. Have one person she is close with check and weigh the kittens daily. Also keep the bedding clean. In a week or 2 start socializing the kittens and see if you can let Bissy out of the room. I wish you the best!

I would move your heavily pregnant cat to her own room away from the kittens so she can focus exclusively on her kittens. I'd place her in her own room with her own food, water, litter box, and whelping box.

She is trying to find a safe and quiet place to take care of them. I would suggest providing her with a box in a dark area of the home with little to no traffic. Once she feels secure, she should not try to move them as much.

It is recommended that when a cat gives birth that she is in a quiet room of her own. It helps reduce stress, and female cats can get protective when their kittens are born. It's best to place Jess in her own room when she is close to giving birth and keeping the dog out of the room.

This is not at all uncommon and I wouldnot be concerned as long as she is still eating and not losing weight. Be sure to provide her with a calm hiding place for her to nest in, an overturned cardboard box turned away from the room can be very helpful to allow her to settle in
