My pregnant cat is aggressive to new kitten. Will they get along?

Hello. Unfortunately, this is not a friendly family group. Cats do not often form strong bonds with their offspring & she may be feeling a little threatened by having them around as they get older. It may be a good idea to either find homes for the kittens, or consider spaying the mother cat. This may alleviate some of her anxiety. Hopefully, things will even out for her soon. She is likely to become more protective when the new born kittens arrive and it is unlikely she will become more accepting of the older kittens at this stage. Ensure she has a quiet area to have the new kittens undisturbed y other cats (including her previous offspring)

Now if they truly did not get along well and the other kitty was trying to harm your older kitty, it is probably best to keep them separate. It is not uncommon for them to miss each other for a bit though this will improve very soon. I think you have made the right choice. Good luck!

Some cats are not good mothers, unfortunately :( If Pumpkin is showing aggression towards the kitten or trying to kill it, you will need to remove it from her and bottle-feed it yourself until it's old enough to be weaned. I would recommend getting some kitten milk replacer from a local pet store. You will need to feed the kitten every two hours around the clock for the next few weeks, until it's old enough to begin eating solid food.

I would recommend waiting until your female cat has had the kittens before really changing anything. IT is possible she is protective and unfriendly to the other cat due to being pregnant. You can get feliway a cat pheromone to help decrease stress in the house. Also, you can try to increase litter boxes and areas of elevation to help calm the two cats. I hope that helps

Despite them all getting along under normal circumstances doesn't mean their presence during labor won't stress Lovely. When cats are stressed during labor they can delay delivery of the kittens. She should be in a quiet room that is familiar to her. The number of people should be limited. With one person checking on her every few hours. As for after the kittens are born I wouldn't allow the other cats in the room without you. Again just because they get along doesn't mean that one of the cats won't hurt the kittens. Pregnancy can be a very stressful time for animals, and it may be hard for your cat to be separate from her previous offspring. However, my recommendation would be to separate him from her so that he cannot suckle/breastfeed from her before her kittens are born. The milk produced at the beginning of lactation is very antibody-rich and important for the brand new kittens to ingest. There is also the possibility that the previous offspring could out-compete the brand new kittens for nipples if they are left together. The new kittens will need the most care and nutrition from the very beginning, and if he is allowed to suckle from the mom, the newest kittens may not get all of the nutrition they need.
