Will kittens from a Persian mother and Siamese father have long fur?

Even though none of the kittens have Siamese color, they will have genes from both their mother and father. The color of kittens depends on which genes are expressed. The kittens will be considered a Siamese-Persian mix.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! They are all super cute regardless! It is too hard to tell in the kittens as they are so young. As for the mother. Unfortunately there is no way for us to distinguish between those 3 breeds from a picture. If you have pure bred papers then I would trust that or you can look in to DNA testing. I wouldn't buy a pure bred animal with out proof they are what the breeder says they are. I wish you the best!

Hi there and thanks for posting. The color will depend on the male and female genetics for the colors. If the golden color is dominant, then there may more golden colored offspring than white colored offspring and if the white is dominant, then there may be more white colored offspring than golden colored. It is impossible to tell from the pictures if this cat is single or double coated (especially in a white cat) - double coated cats have a short, soft coat underneath with longer guard hairs as an overcoat. It is very difficult to predict in kittens if this will be short, medium or long coated but the distinctive short nose and head structure of a pedigree persian does not appear to be developed here. The bald patch on the nose could be ringworm or also possibly a healing ulcer from herpes virus infection - both of these would be expected to grow back

It is impossible to predict exactly what the kittens will look like, some will likely look like the female, some like the male, and some a mix of both. Siamese is a cat breed. Your cat does look like a siamese or siamese mix based on the coat and eye color. The coat color can be different with this breed and your cat would be a seal point. I hope this helps and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

With this breed and the signs I would be worried about ringworm. Persian cats and other long-haired breeds are prone to this type of fungal infection and in fact the mother may have it and be what's called an asymptomatic carrier. I recommend practicing strict hygiene protocols with handling the kittens and discussing with your veterinarian if they feel they should be testing for ringworm. I agree with your veterinarian that this is unlikely to be a side effect of the medication previously given.
