Is it possible for an older cat to lose all its teeth at once?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered

Can adult cat lose all their teeth at the same time? My grandma calls me a two day ago and told me the cat have no teeth and she didn't realize they were gone.

It would be possible in a case of major trauma, but not likely in any other case. Older cats tend to get varying degree of dental disease and tooth loss, that often goes unnoticed by their owners. It's likely that Squidward has been losing teeth over the last few years.

I recommend having him seen by a vet sometime soon. He may still have oral disease that needs treatment and the vet can give some more insight about the missing teeth.

I hope that helps and all is well with Squidward.
