My newborn kitten has a red lump on its belly. Should I see a vet?

That doesn't look good. It looks like a hernia (possibly a section of intestines or the omentum) that has come out of the body and is now dried out. The other option is a dried umbilical stump. You really should try to get the kitten to a vet for an exam. It is difficult for me to say what you can do if I'm not sure what is going on. If you try some home treatment and that is a piece of intestines hanging out then you could certainly make it worse. I hope this helps. Best of luck.

This could be an umbilical hernia, or an infection of the umbilicus (belly button). I'd recommend having this kitten examined by your vet to see if any treatment is needed. If it is a hernia repair might be recommended when the kitten is older.

Unfortunately you should take Baby to the veterinarian. Without actually performing a physical examination it is difficult to say what is causing the lump and if I can't say the cause we can't say how to treat it. You can call your local veterinarians and see what they charge for an office visit. With how young Baby is she needs other things which can add up in the cost of the visit. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the swelling is at the belly button, is soft and non-painful it is likely an umbilical hernia. The herniation is usually fat through the body wall. Sometimes they can be pushed in (but come back out) or are permanently out. We usually fix them easily when they are spayed. She may have more kittens in her uterus, and maybe one kitten is blocking the soft birth canal. Please take Tuti to a veterinarian right away. This is life-threatening to your cat as well as the kittens. The kittens may still be alive, so please do not wait and see. This is an emergency.

Meow Meow sound very sick, and at this point in time, this is a medical emergency. You cannot treat this at home, there are no pain medications you can give her. Many human ones are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. She has to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies.
