Why did my newborn kitten die with nosebleed, could a toddler be involved?

Ideally, the kitten should be physically examined by a veterinarian to diagnose any other injuries. If it is a minor bleed, it should stop with some gentle pressure. If there is internal injury, that can be addressed by the veterinarian after the exam. Monitor for lethargy, ataxia (wobbly gait), difficulty breathing, pale gums, uneven pupils or bleeding from the ears or anywhere else.

Nose bleeds, balance issues and a growth on the nose are very worrisome signs that should be examined by your vet ASAP. Infections, systemic illness, neurologic issues, toxicity, something stuck in the nasal cavity, growths, tumors, etc can all be possible causes which would benefit from a complete exam. Your vet may recommend additional tests such as taking a sample of any growths, bloodwork, and looking in the nose itself to try and find the cause.

Unfortunately, sometimes kitties can be born with a congenital heart defect, which then causes sudden death. A vet will not always be able to hear this heart defect on auscultation. She could have also had a type of stroke, and attacked your son because she all of a sudden felt sick. There are also infectious diseases that can cause bleeding and diarrhea, especially when they occur in the peracute form. I think you should make sure your other animals are up to date on vaccines, and if there is the slightest suspicion that the other cat or the dog are "off", you should take them to a vet right away.

This is a concerning presentation for a kitten. I would recommend to continue to wipe her nose and open the mouth to clear it. Rub the kitten in small circular movements to get it breathing. Seek immediately veterinary intervention as that wound on the the back requires an immediate check up and treatment.

Hi. I'm sorry to hear about your kitten. Just watch her for any signs of continued nose bleed, decrease in appetite, lethargy, facial swelling, change in mentation, wobbly when walking. If she acts normal, is eating, drinking, interacting the same without any problems most likely she is going to be fine. I am very sorry you lost your cats! That is terrible. Unfortunately the only way to find out what killed your kitties is to have a post mortem done. There are so many possible causes, starting with household cleaners, insecticides, rodenticide, snake bites, toxins, and also infectious disease. From these signs alone it is not possible to say what could be the cause. Again, I am very sorry.
