Is Montmorillonite Clay safe for cats? Can I add new food treats?

With any new treat watch for upset stomach signs: vomit and diarrhea. Extra taurine is not harmful, she will just urinate out the excess. Have a great day!

I think this should be safe for your young kittens to use. They may be inquisitive at first about the new litter but they probably won’t ingest enough to cause an issue. We currently use the powder formulation for dogs and cats but if they have treats for cats this should be absolutely safe to try. Smokey is adorable! I love black cats. Any treat that is given occasionally is okay. Hill's has a page that tells you how to make treats from their prescription diets here. https://www.hillspet.com/cat-care/nutrition-feeding/healthy-homemade-cat-treats. The main thing is to to ensure that Smokey gets lots of clean fresh water all the time and make sure he's drinking. Feeding canned food is a way to ensure he's getting more water but I know some cats prefer dry to canned and can't be convinced otherwise.

I guess he just feels like it. This isn't a common problem among cats. In small amounts it is perfectly safe, but in larger amounts it could cause irritation to the GI tract or even an impaction. You might need to try another substrate for the litter box, such as shredded paper, packing peanuts, sand, a product called yesterday's news, etc.

Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Small bits of cooked chicken can be a good treat for a cat, but I would stay away from the other foods you mentioned. None of those foods are dangerous, but cheese and milk can cause diarrhea and GI upset, and crackers & bread are not very nutritious for cats. Better to stick with little bits of cooked meat. Clay or crystalline litter is not good if eaten as it can cause obstruction and some can be toxic if ingested. Place only a small scatter over newspaper in the tray until he learns how to use the tray more appropriately. Monitor for any vomiting or constipation
