Why is my male cat meowing loudly and losing his voice, is he in heat?

Hello. Male cats do not go into heat. That term refers to the estrus cycle of a female cat. Male cats that are not neutered are always ready to mate. If you put him with female cats and they did not mate then that means the females were not in heat. The female needs to be in heat in order to allow the male to breed. I see that Lucifer isn't neutered. More than likely, he has reached sexually maturity, and wants to go out to find females with which to mate. Probably soon he will start urine marking in the house to mark his territory. Even letting him out to mate will not stop the behavior, it will continue. If you want to stop this behavior completely, have him neutered. Best of luck.

Be sure he is urinating, male cats are at risk for urinary obstructions. Sometimes they vocalized. If he is a senior cat, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) can cause increased vocalization. Hi there. If he isn't neutered, this may be a big part of the problem - unneutered males are highly motivated to go out and search for females, so they are often restless and vocal in the house. They also tend to spray (urine mark) around the house, and their urine is extremely smelly. Because of this, I would recommend getting Kovu neutered to see if this resolves the problem.
