My male cat pees frequently and cleans his genitals. Is it a UTI?

Poor guy. He likely has a urinary tract infection or cystitis (inflamed bladder usually due to stress). I would recommend taking him to your vet for a urine test to determine which is present so that he is treated appropriately. As long as he is otherwise acting normal and able to urinate at will, then it isn't considered an emergency at this point. Getting him seen on Monday or the day after should be ok. Poor guy. I too would be concerned about possible cancer. The next step would be to get an abdominal ultrasound to look for other possible causes such as cancer. Cats can also just get cystitis, which caused inflammation of the bladder due to stress. This is typically treated with a prescription urinary food and often-times anti-anxiety medication. This is only done in very severe cases that do not resolve or in cases that tend to reoccur too often, is this the first time it happened? if so you should first explore traditional treatment, and by the way in cats UTI is actually not very common, urinary blockage is usually caused by a condition called FLUTD which is related to stress and causes bladder inflammation.

From the photo, the urine appears to have blood in it and you are seeing an increased urination. I recommend to have Knight examined right away. Sometimes this behavior is another bladder infection or crystals in the urine. Sometimes though this behavior is observed prior to a urethral blockage (which is fatal unless treated promptly). Poor Skunk. Frequent urination and accidents in the home indicate a possible urinary tract infection. Skunk needs to have his urine tested through your local vet and treated with antibiotics if confirmed. UTI's in male cats are uncommon however, whereas urinary blockages are more frequent, so closely monitor him for any straining or inability to urinate, as this would pose a medical emergency type situation. However if he is still able to urinate, not vocalizing when trying to pee and still eating and drinking well, then you can schedule an appt for the next day or two to get him tested and treated. I would be concerned this may be a sign of inflammation and part of the FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease complex). It is important to act quickly here as some cats can suffer extremely painful and severe blockages if untreated. Pain relief, antiinflammatories and sometimes catheters re required to relieve if very severe and he may need antibiotics if there is any evidence of infection. Poor Tony! He could definitely be experiencing a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or even a blocked urethra and unable to urinate. Since he is crying and hissing, I am really concerned that he is hurting and possibly unable to urinate. I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to check his bladder and his urine and get him started on the proper treatment plan to help him feel better.
